Dear Photograph

I stumbled upon this beautiful site today created by Canadian Taylor Jones.  Dear Photograph is such a simple concept, taking an old photograph and lining it up to match it's original location.  The contributors can also leave a comment about their photo.  Most are quite poignant, with themes of family, happiness, regret and some sadness.  Still, I think this site is a reminder for us all to live in the moment more, love the one's you're with and reflect on simple pleasures.  Very 'barefoot sunday' I think.  Here's a small selection from the site..

Lovely, aren't they?

Enjoy,

The Ivy Penthouse - wow

While in Sydney I had the very special pleasure of being invited to a function at the Ivy Penthouse from the stable of Justin Hemmes owned establishments.  I've always been a big fan of the work of Hecker Guthrie interior designers so I was very excited to view their work up close and personal.  Well, needless to say, I wasn't disappointed.  The space is the ultimate in pared-back glamour.  The concrete walls of the space were rough textured and had a woodgrain print on them.  This contrasted beautifully with the smooth surfaces of marble, leather and glass.  Spaces like this remind me that quality in finishes is always the right decision to make a space work.

If you ever get the chance to attend a function here, don't miss it!

New Years in Sydney

I like to sum up New Years Resolutions with one word.  This year I've decided that the word is 'wellbeing'.
Wellbeing to me means good health, rest, challenging my mind and body.  My trip to Sydney has meant some overindulgence (it's my birthday after all) therefore my pledge to 'wellbeing' will begin next week!!
I do love Sydney town though, and this week have had the great pleasure of checking out some of my favourite shops restaurants and galleries.  My standout was the trip to Mark Tuckey over in Newport Beach.  Check out this stunning furniture here.  There is a real sense of presence with his pieces.  They hark back to an era when furniture was built to last.  I noticed how impossible it was to keep my hands to myself - touching the chunky tables and running hands over beautifully finished timber.  I very much hope to own something from here sooner rather than later!

Cheers,
Lindsay

barefoot sunday

Barefoot Sunday is what I aspire too.  Life in the slow lane.  Barefoot Sunday style is all about where and how you want to spend your precious time, be it with family, at home or out and about.  It's about simple pleasures, beautiful design, quality, slow food, craft over mass production and authenticity.  Join me in discovering life, destinations, homes and food in the Barefoot Sunday style.
